Burner or element won't heat
On electric stoves, usually a burnt-out element, a scorched terminal block or a failed infinite switch. Glass-top radiant elements and their limiters wear out the same way.

These are the cooktop and range faults Oak Bay homeowners call us about most, with the causes we usually find. Elements, igniters, spark modules and burner switches are stocked in our vans, so most stoves are working again after the first visit.
On electric stoves, usually a burnt-out element, a scorched terminal block or a failed infinite switch. Glass-top radiant elements and their limiters wear out the same way.
Moisture or spilled food on the burner, a cap that is not seated properly, a cracked igniter or a faulty spark switch or module.
A failed infinite switch or control relay can leave an element glowing no matter where the knob is set. Switch the stove off at the breaker and call us.
Clogged burner ports and misaligned caps cause most weak or uneven flames. A yellow or orange flame can mean poor combustion, so it needs a technician to check it.
A cracked or chipped glass top has to be replaced, and the burners should not be used until it is. We confirm the part for your model and quote it before ordering.
Often a failed touch control, a faulty control board or a cooktop lock left switched on. Error codes on the display help us narrow down the fault.
Smell gas? Do not light anything or flip any switches. Leave the house and, once you are outside, call 911 or FortisBC's 24-hour gas emergency line. Call us for the repair after the gas utility has made your home safe.

The price depends on which part has failed, and you get the exact figure before any work starts. A coil element, igniter or burner switch sits at the lower end, while a glass cooktop, control board or induction module costs the most. The service call fee is waived when you go ahead with the repair.
Yes, in most cases: call before noon and we can usually have your stove working again the same day. We are open every day from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., weekends included, and we tell you up front if a part has to be ordered.
Usually because the burner is wet or dirty, or the cap is not sitting flat on its base. Let the burner dry completely after a spill, clean the ports with a soft brush and reseat the cap. If it still clicks when the knob is off, the spark switch or spark module has failed and needs replacing.
Most often the element itself has burnt out. On a coil stove you can test this by swapping in a same-size element from another burner: if the swapped element heats, the original was faulty; if it does not, the receptacle or infinite switch is the problem. On glass-top stoves the radiant element or its switch is usually to blame.
Yes, by replacing the glass top, and you should stop using the cooktop until then because spills can reach the wiring underneath. The glass itself cannot be patched. On many models the top comes as one part with its elements, so we price it for your exact model and tell you whether the repair makes sense for the age of the range.
Every stove repair is covered by a 90-day warranty on both parts and labour. If the same fault comes back within 90 days, we return and fix it at no charge.
