A torn door gasket lets warm, moist air in, which keeps the compressor running and builds frost. Dirty coils or a defrost system fault cause the same symptoms.

The price depends on which part failed, and you get the exact figure before any work starts. Replacing a door gasket, thermostat or fan motor sits at the lower end, while compressor and sealed-system repairs cost the most. The service call fee is waived when you go ahead with the repair.

Cold air from the freezer is not getting through to the fridge section. In most frost-free fridges this happens when the evaporator coil ices over because a defrost heater, sensor or control has failed, or when the evaporator fan or air damper stops working. It is a common, repairable fault.
The most common cause is a blocked defrost drain, which sends melt water into the fridge or onto the floor. On fridges with an ice maker or dispenser, a cracked supply line or a leaking inlet valve is the next thing we check. Turn off the water supply to the fridge if you can see water spreading.
Repair usually makes sense when the fridge is under about 10 years old and the repair costs less than half the price of a comparable new one. Fans, thermostats, gaskets and defrost parts are almost always worth fixing. If a costly compressor or sealed-system repair is needed on an older fridge, we will tell you plainly that replacing it may be the better choice.
Every fridge repair is covered by a 90-day warranty on both parts and labour. If the same fault comes back within 90 days, we return and fix it at no charge.
